A dove flew away today
in memory...
of the day
The Enola Gay
dropped an ‘A’
sending thousands
instantly flying away

and even a strong heartbeat
can’t keep up with the pace
of death propelled
by the human race.

A dove flew away today
in memory...

and the flocks in the wings
await the next release.

Midnitesun,

What emotion this brings me today!  I will NEVer understand why things cannot be resolved peacefully.  We all live under the same sun and moon; with that alone, we have some commonalities that should allow us to work things out.

Your writing is so thought provoking and written with such skill!  this makes two new poems I've added to my shelf in the last ten minutes...

such a shame. it is sad that something like that can actually be considered a good thing seeing as our bombing of hiroshima and nagasaka supposedly saved more lives in the long run.

thank you for your thoughts on this, Eagle Scorpion

I guess it depends on whose numbers you buy, whose POV.

No one has ever convinced me that dropping bombs saves lives.

Hi Midnitesun. What a piece. This is very well written. It definitely will stir opinions. I am going to keep this because I really like the way it is put together. I would definitely like to write something in a similiar style. Thank-you my friend.

Like they had rubbed against molten rock,
Above the earth, all skin came off;
Evaporating souls and body parts
Into all directions, all went-permanent
Into the blaze that once was air...

Doves with singed wings
Rose up....into a sky,
Filled with death--caught fire;
For there was no rain to quench,
From world tears expired.

Kacy....

I love how you never forget....

In your light I learn how to love
In your beauty how to make poems
You dance inside my chest where
no one sees you and that sight becomes this art

Lauren and Sandra thanking each of you, for the moments you spend to further  Peace
Sadly, some people will never get the message straight. Here locally, when some Peace activists stood on a corner...peacefully...a passerby yelled out to one lady that she should send her children to the front lines. (Shaking my head at that.) But her reply was wonderful: She said she didn't want to send her child to kill someone else's child.
And it's just about that simple an explanation in the long run, isn't it?
