I was thinking, while driving...
Of days long ago.
When I was a dreamer-
Who chased rodeo.
The long, lonesome highways-
Those old broken bones,
And I can't help but wonder,
Where my dreams have gone.

I remember Fort Worth,
And the San Antone show;
The big one at Cheyenne,
The "Daddy", you know?
I recall gowing older-
My reflexes slowed
More oft than I won
I began to get throwed.

I made me some money-
I had lots of fun.
But at last I admitted,
"Hey, cowboy, you're done."
For twenty long years now,
My memories abide,
Of the show out in Marfa,
Where I made my last ride.

So I ride in memories,
I still hear the crowd...
The cheers for my talent,
Are still ringing loud.
Another old has-been,
In Stetson and boots...
A rodeo buckle...
And West Texas roots.

Hi cowboy!  You a 'has-been'???  NO WAY Never!
So good to read you again John.
And yanno..just once I would have loved to
have seen you ride in a rodeo.

Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that.
Something from the sea, whichever one I'm near.
When I stray too far from beachland, it calls me back

I remember watching the men on bulls and broncos in Fort Worth more than 40 years ago.  You bring me pleasure in reliving those memories with your poems.

It's nice to find someone else who writes about the world of rodeo. It was my home for almost 10 years. lol Funny enough I live in West Texas.

God Bless,
Cory
