~Summer Memories of Nightshade & Enchantress~

Hey Chris!

Remember the summers of not so long ago?
The days appeared endless, the nights were aglow...
White beaches at Ipperwash, Grand Bend, and Port Franks,
Huge sand dunes, the sea shells, along Huron's banks.

We brought Grumpy the Frog...don't forget the Sea Sled -
Out jumping the waves, with our family named 'Head'.
Orange-ade from Mackies, now that was a real treat!
Springbank! A steam train! Quick lets grab a seat!

Hey Nancy!

Of course I remember - how could I forget?
Mom packing the cooler - Dad calling "All set?!!"
Canoeing at Woodstock, waterlilies in trail,
After our picnic....melon boats we would sail.

I can recall you taking my hand......
Wading clear water, scooping shells from the sand.
Or Storybook Gardens where fairy tales became real
And people crowded to glimpse sly Slippery the Seal.

Chris,

Oh! Swimming at Goderich, now who could forget?
The cottage at Tawas, the new friends we met.
How come this remembering causes tears in my eyes?
No, I'm not sad, just recalled - those pesky black flies!

We had so much fun, our childhood summers a ball,
Would you...if you could, relive them at all?
I would..if only far off we might see......
Mom and Dad embracing... watching us ... by the sea.

Nancy Lee,

Homes were kept cool with just the pull of a shade
Striped canvas chairs, ponytails, and yes, real lemonade.
The seagull Dad told us was our late "Uncle Bert".
He whispered in smile so Mom's feelings weren't hurt.

Oh yes, you know I would relive it all now
You're my big sister, so please show me how?
I'll close my eyes tight while you speak softly to me...
"Come, take my hand and let's run, to the sea....to the sea."

~Thanks for the memories dear Dad and Mom..
See we haven't forgotten, no not even one.~

I see the both of you
in the picture of them
I see the why and the how,
the "achoo" and "ahem"...

I see they gifted you
with gifts from above...

and most certainly I see...
a lifetime of love.

That you two ladies
have such wonderful memories?

I just shake, and nod, and know....

it's all relative.

Who's that girl that's all legs? Ah ladies, how nice to reflect with the two of you. Sweetly done.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

well, what a fine first read of the morning...you have brought back to surface an intricate part of life...we are lucky to have these memories...these patches on our girlscout vest which bring forth so so many trophies, within...

Hugs and many thanks for a very enjoyable read...
and the smile I'm now wearing.

The depth of love you sisters share is a tribute to your parents and it keeps them alive today.

Beautifully written.  Ken

Thank you, too, for bringing back some precious
summer memories of my own summer days with my brother

in a happy family so that we can have these memories

My goodness! The family resemblance is remarkable! Yeppers! Those most assuredly are the parents of Chris and Nancy!

Those warm memories that you two share, will last a lifetime. Your poem brought many back for me as well.

A lovely poem written by two lovely poetessas!

I loved reading this, the sharing of your treasured memories!
Now, where is my old sandpail and shovel, so my sisters (and brothers if they behave!) and I can build some sandcastles?

Sounds like you two had wonderful summers, and a real loving mom and dad. I, too, see both of you in your mom and dad.

In your light I learn how to love
In your beauty how to make poems
You dance inside my chest where
no one sees you and that sight becomes this art
