-Thanks K for all of your guidance-

A Decade’s Difference

One decade parts us in difference,
but between years and under this skin,
we are kin.

Still learning to choose her words,
still learning significance
of a single thought  ~
the power she holds
over destiny...

Still coming to know that
fate is not a death sentence,
when you hold your own pen.

I, no longer astonished by
who may be placed in my path,
have to come to realize
there are no accidents
in this universe.

Yet,
blessed
His authority
to guide our steps,
on our path of choice,
causing us to join
as sisters in His name.

And blessed
is she,
her infant girl,
drawing me to her
as she strolls the cul de sac
we share a common.

I watch her...
repeating that same 360,
I circled many times over ten years.

In time,
she will come to know,
she is navigator,
commander of her steps.

For now, her choice of adjectives reveals
she has not found her way...

Reliving a past, foretelling some future,
meeting points of frustration.

I see her in me at a time when I
wasn’t really me at all
and like nettles
on bare feet,
its prick reminds me to continue
my walk on this new path I have blazed,
hoping some few words might smooth her trail,

but knowing all the time
she must find her own way.

~*~

This whispers so gently...provocatively,
and the sense of guiding
a little one lost...

by just sharing histories...

and the nettles along the pathway...

make all the difference.  Maybe not now...
but most certainly, later!

Patricia?

There's such wisdom in this... and it's written out delicately, but with bold love. Quite beautiful! Good to read you...

Always, Alyssa

It's a blessing, to find a friend like that -- one or two in a lifetime, and you die rich, money or no.

I found this so powerful....I'm saving this...

In your light I learn how to love
In your beauty how to make poems
You dance inside my chest where
no one sees you and that sight becomes this art

Pat, I came looking for some of your poetry and found this fine offering from your pen ~ and heart. There is such beauty, love, widom and understanding in your words.

And btw, you write in free verse with the best of the poets!

Love & Light,
Linda
