Never close enough

Elegant imperfection,
...flawed china on display,
yet wondrous, and breath-taking
to all that look her way.

Master of disquise,
...self-taught to hide the pain,
eyes that flash a smile
so that no one sees the rain.

Spurned, yet adored
...not understood, and often mistaken
her life was proof of choices
and chances that she'd taken.

Laid-back Southern Drawl,
...a voice that pulled you in,
Full of Big City dreams,
and scars of where she'd been.

She hangs out at Johnson's Bar,
...serving her patrons with a smile.
Never made it out of this town,
guess she gave up after a while.

I go in on occasion,
...she smiles, and I catch her eyes,
She knows that I can see through her,
with me, she can live, instead of lie.

Our words are few,
...no need for idle chat,
I understand her pain,
and she appreciates that.

On occasion, we talk,
...then she tells a little more,
slowly I understand,
her life inside these doors.

Today she wears a ring,
...one I've never seen before,
a golden circle, shining,
no need to ask for more.

She see's my stare, and curiosity,
...she flashes that wondrous smile,
"Today I remember,
what some can't after a while"

"Some easily remember,
...some easily forget,
I wear this golden ring
cause', I'm not ready to let go
just yet."

"These days, I go see him,
...and visit with a stone,
Today, I celebrate a life,
that's been gone for much to long."

With that, she turns around,
...and serves another drink,
I say nothing more,
she parts with only a wink.

I turn and leave the bar,
...content that she's okay,
tommorow I'll stop back in,
enough has been said today.

I can't seem to come up with anything better other than woah...I feel the words in this...a story unfolding..this was real to me..if that makes sense!?

Incredible writing, and I loved the ending, knowing when enough is enough, and things simply have to work themselves out...

Loved this!!!!

I usually don't enjoy rhyming poetry too much... however I was halfway through this before I realized that is what you had done...
I usually don't read too much on here any more- it's usually just a hit and run- however, the title caught me. This was so... uh... damn! I can't even describe the greatness of this write.

I will definately be back to read more of your words, ma'am.
