Holding On

Sometimes,
I empty the memories,
allowing space
for the newness of you
to capture the happiness
that left me behind
once before.

I feed on those thoughts,
fulfilling the hunger,
healing the bruised ego,
holding on, waiting
to be touched again,
that special way.

Though distance breathes softly,
the whispers dream me to sleep
allowing me to be "anchored to you"
washing away the pain
of yesterday.
