My arms are stretched
    The sky is falling
Where is up there?
If only I could touch what once was
The darkness blinds me
I am in the mist of saddened shadows
Alone now

A common struggle this grief
    some do not survive
Here is to those that do
I hold my fluted glass to you
and drink myself silly

The irony of this life
    to fear death and
yet be dying amongst the living

Oh, the drama of it all
    the pages keep on turning
The final chapter only a
    few more pages away

No one can escape
for we are addicted to the mystery
of what is to come
and what we inevitably must face

I hold no candle to the hero
I am a coward who marks time
in hope of an oblivious ending...

SEA,

Thank you for your response. I'm glad you enjoyed it (poems of the dark side).
