Listening to every heart

When Reeling…

This could be well one of those nights
when storms crawl in,
no high-falutin’ thundering noise,
just crawling black over gray, even if
miles away, when thoughts streak ever louder
than any words heard…or any
thunder rumbles…yet you know,
the night’s not over…

family…they’re too near in their far-away places
where reach with tone, are touching voices
where derision     could be key
oh so many old fantastic harmonies…
                    we were famous, you know,
                                         for hiding bones.

Even when white skeletal wrongs
are right, even then in darkest night,
when children don’t know from hate;
sometimes it seems, that’s all it takes.

~*~

We whitewash pretties to be clean
and strip our souls of
those times lean, when mean was but
a compass call;
when family took up            that all.

I learned that Mom had heard the harsh;
and Dad, he leaned in from the marsh
of knowing his father had
run away,
thus the glue that made       him
stay.

How easy it is to write with roses
coloring glasses upon our noses…
and diplomats, aye, somewhere in my line
this must be found, for it is mine…
and yet I hearken
for those truths…
that seek my stay,  that I may see my roots.

Thoughtfully written.  Your pull to family shows so well.  KJ

Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that.
Something from the sea, whichever one I'm near.
When I stray too far from beachland, it calls me back

Sunshine,

   There is such richness and sound, heart and word.  Wish I could reflect the passage of time in such a manner.  Wish I could catch up on my reading!  Only if wishes could be beggars...
