life seems to
treat you rough,
singling you out
to be pelted by
those hailstones of bad luck

i know you
never felt safe since
i have these awful migraines
in my head sometimes;
i wish i could
pry open and spoon off
the hurtful bits
do you feel your
whole being reduced to
this mess of vibrating migraine?

i know you
feel disgusted, worthless
you scratch,
as if possessed,
no longer knowing
whether you want to
bury or dig
you seem unfazed
about the blood
on your memory-stained hands
you draw deviant delight in fact

i understand how
you don't want to be you
so, you swim towards the sharks,
desperately hoping
they would gobble you
so that you may descend
into this merciful sleep of solace

i understand how
you need space to shake off
those darned leeches of your past
it scares me though
when i find you
withdraw inside yourself

you hear my restrained voice
pounding hard on your door?

let me show you
the faded photos of yesterday
the past is but a swirl of smoke
it won't intrude upon
our joyful times of today
let me comfort you
with my first aid kit
i'll put a colorful Band Aid
and we'll walk towards the light together

i would even let you
have the privilege
to hear my dazzling
Knock Knock jokes
