When Micah was but four years old, he learned to read and write, He started off with simple books, to whet his appetite, Then he moved to books much longer, the classics he was reading, Vocabulary now much stronger, of what he read was heeding, By age ten philosophies, were the books he read, He had no need to go to school, his books his school instead, Micah never went to college, he did not feel the need, What could professor teach to him, that he could not read? Micah grew to be a man, never did he marry, He spent his days and spent his nights, at a desk in the library, He grew to be an old, old man, and then he up and died, Sad to say that no one cared, not a single person cried, They buried Micah with his books, that was one of two requests The other was his headstone’s marker, to read “A Learned Man Here Rests.” |
