Melpomene Jones

He called her up
-and none too soon-
he told her come on by,

He had the goods
just what she'd need
straight to his house she'd walk

"Bring twenty bucks"
"soon you'll be fine"
"your shakes will go away"

so off she went
and on the way
That switch-yard was between

The train was stopped
upon the tracks
no room to go around

beneath she crawled
she could not wait
her shakes were getting worse

just at that time
her luck ran out
and you might guess the rest

so now she sits
in that odd chair
with wheels on either side

The Doctors give
her what she wants
but what she needs is legs

adagio

Ralph, you handled the topic wonderfully, matter of fact, and nod, you did it all without trite sermonizing.

Great job, m'friend!

(Loved the title too)

Thank all of you for reading and replying.

I have been told that truth truth is stranger than fiction BECAUSE fiction has
to adhere to the boundries of posibilities and truth does not. To the best of my knowledge this is a true story. When it was told to me it touched my heart too.
Double irony in my title because the first
methodone clinic in New Orleans was on
Melpomene street.

Karen,
  Yeah we gotta lotta stories,
I have one unfinished maybe you could
help me kick start it a bit.
