A young boy read
attempting to sate an unquenchable thirst
from forth the well
of noble word
to climb
to climb within the very essence of all being
and soar beyond the rim of time
on weathered page
as he grasped for
aye, grasped for
tomes’ shadowed dreams
of man's immortality
ensconced within
the mortality of gods.
