The scent of honeysuckle filled the room
As she placed some vines here and there
And each and every flower bloom
Created its magic in the air

She couldn’t wait for summer’s heat
When all her flowers came to life
A colorful, fragrant garden retreat
And always a beautiful sight

As I was a lad full of mischief and play
I took no care for her toil
Summer was fun, with long, hot days
Not meant to be digging the soil

But, I loved the smell when I walked inside
And the colors all sprinkled about
The garden spilled into the house from outside
Not a cranny was left without

She’s been gone for a while and the garden has, too
And I still remember the times
When I’d lick the stems of honeysuckle dew
From the flowers picked off of the vines.

Hopefully, we all have such memories from childhood..

Well done!
