Listening to every heart

Miss Emily
my quiet companion.

Shall you be the one that came,
perhaps to be most like me...
will you understand
a Grandmother's quiet moods best?
Are you to be the one
to look into written wanderings,
knowing the why?

When you gaze into hazel eyes,
will you follow their trail onto a new
horizon?

Might you pick up a pen
early on, to scribble as you sit beside me,
while we share our imaginations’
drifting, to take us places
not yet visited.

Look at you, come directly
from castles in skies, a pure
rainbow’s beginning, a gift from dancing clouds ~
a sprite that calmed thundering heads.

Oh, yes, you will dance,
to the music within your soul,
a slight ballerina of word,

fey of mind, and light of touch,
inherently you will
know of matters,
perhaps without understanding why,
from whispers received today.

You shall follow the cursive
lines, breathing new life
into a spirit that has always ballooned
with laughter…
you will be the gold
to light our days.

For I see it in your smile
and feel it in your
hands.

Oh my, how absolutely charming!
And Miss Emily so sweet..
may just be the one to carry on
the magical dance of words, one day
from her own pen.

Give her a hug for me..she is precious!

Karilea~

how precious is this....I can see your smile from here.... beautiful words, I know one day will be shared with her!

In your light I learn how to love
In your beauty how to make poems
You dance inside my chest where
no one sees you and that sight becomes this art

Karilea

I do enjoy the softness in this,
Beg I add what my muse thought of it..
I ask, but do not wait answer...
Inspiration comes out sometimes
in uncontrolled bursts...

sweet, sweet the child is
Questioning all she points at
"What is that, grandma?"

"Please explain the world to me,
So I may learn the dance steps"

enjoyed

One will definitely take on your talent, if you expose her to it.  What an adorable dress, and child.  Can they not warm your heart like nothing else on earth?

Im smiling ... smiling ... smiling ...

How about me not blaming you for everything
How about me enjoying the moment for once
How about how good it feels to finally forgive you

Follow the trail, she will!

She'll track footprints upon the prairie dust,
Fill the prints with small bare feet, extending toes;
With tootsies she'll feel the earthy warmth.
Of course, Emily will smile her Grandma's heart,
    with expression all aglow!

~~~
She's lovely, Karilea!
A child of wonder is a blessing to the world. I like the hopefulness and the whimsy in this poem.
Ceinwyn, this child is lucky to have the parents she has...she is adorably precious, and normally I reserve my thoughts on my grandchildren, just as I did my own. But she certainly has a flare with body language...and warm & fuzzy is fine with me!
Star, see above...
Nan? She IS whimsy...and love...thank you!
miscellanea, I can only hope that your part to this poem comes true...thank you!
GS...yes...
babygirl...thank you.  She is indeed a hug a moment....
JM, me, too...thank you sweetheart!
SC - if a grandparent cannot instill hope and love into a grandchild...then I don't know why we are around, right?
Mys?  No.  They are why we smile!
Scorpio? From your mouth, to God's ear.  Thank you, Sir.
PS - bless your heart.  Thank you.
Lee?  I liked that reply, too!  Thank you, m'dear!
Ford? Every time you place a part of yourself on my writings, I smile. That part of interaction between poets is very special, and very, very welcome. When you are so moved? Then you move me.  Thank you!
My DA...thank you, Lady....
Jo...she is a little bit...of treasure.  Thank you, SIL...
Lauren, this is one of the most precious pictures I will ever own.  I love all six of my grandchildren, but this is a photo that can belong to anyone...thank you!
Martie, m'love, whether she does, or not...but that she follow the right road of her heart - that is what is important!  Miss Emily and I love you dearly!
Suthern, m'friend...all of my dear hearts are full of magic...and they all have a certain power, unique unto themselves. I am very blessed, times six.  Thank you, m'dear.
How precious...all three, the girl, the poem and her lovely grandmother. I hope to one day experience the joys that being a grandparent can bring, for now I'll live vicarously through you dear friend
Ah, Ruth!  My eldest is 13...and my youngest just turned 1!
They do entice a young turn in one's thinking....
Like being around to see them ALL graduate from College and Marry!
And then?
See THEIR grandchildren!!!!
A LOT to live for!
I read this once, but didn't quite know what to say other than FANTASTIC write! LOL, that still applies, but now, can I also tell you that this is the spirit and soul of life's poetry, the way you connect souls from generation to generation is...pure heart.
You brought tears to my eyes with this one, K.  I already missed my little Macy girl (she is with her dad) but she is coming home today!  I think I shall hug her for a good, long time when she arrives.
