Death is copper Lincoln heads
"pennies on the eyes" she said
bright behind a shaded lid
fire in the sky
"You're dead!"
and "oh"
she shook her head,
he bled:

"I forgot--
bang-bang."

Love it, Serenity!  Whatcha doin' tonight that's got you dreamin' up this stuff.... workin' on the coin collection? ...just kidding.  Although, if money is the only thing the eyes can see, well they might as well be dead!  *hugs you*....jojo

Right off I thought of Nancy Sinatra

(bang bang - you shot me down, bang bang -
I hit the ground . . .bang, bang . . . you shot your bayyyhhhbeeeeee dowwwwn . . .)

and then of Neil Young - there are amazing lyrics in one tune:

"dead man lyin' on the side of the road with the daylight in his eyyyyes . . ."

You take me places, missy.

Suze? You nailed it, lovely.

I have three versions of that song I have been listening to back-to-back for about a week now. (One is too brief, but it's covered by one of our Pip musicians, then the Neil version, and then Annie Lennox...all recommended highly.)

Thanks for reading....

Must be LR....

but I went beyond pennies,
saw silver
and thought...

"but this is gold!"

Oddly enough that tune by Neil brings back fond memories galore, and I could just              because I can't stop singing that silly Nancy Sinatra song now, and I have added to it, "These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do, one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you, boom, boom, boom boom, boom boom, yeah!"
