Waves of faith lifted me
so that I did not drown
in the ocean of emotions
that rushed in
above and beneath,
straight through my soul
as I flipped through
old memories
of toothless grin
cheek to cheek
against baby skin
while brown eyes laughed

a precious moment of past
caught for eternity
and I felt the tears
swelling in me

but I pulled myself back
to solid ground
stared at your face
and my strength was found.

I wonder now,
if you ever knew
how much it was
that I adored you.

Through all the years
as time slipped by
rarely did I see you cry
until the day
you were given the gift;
the one that you
asked for in wish.

Somehow, I managed
to find it for you
and I cried when I saw
the tears in your eyes

it was then
that you whispered I love you
kissing my forehead  once again
just the same as you always did
when I was but a little girl
holding on to hands of rough...

I still wonder if I ever told you enough....

Then I turned another page
and saw our lives evolve in stages
as we learned and grew in age
until no longer did you hold
just the one
but there were six
before your time was done.

They all got to know your smile
even if only for a little while
but still there is so much
of you, in them
from your stubbornness
right down to your pride

I now see the way they try
to be strong, to be tough
although you are no longer here
you have given them
more than enough,
just as you did
when it was just we three

and even now...

you inspire me

with your love
and unspoken faith

once again,
I see your face
smiling with that toothless grin

I can't wait Daddy
to see you when its
time again...

Until then,
I hope that I said it enough

Thank you Daddy
for your everlasting
gift of love.....

Give me your heart
Make it real
Or else forget about it...Santana

Ok...it seems that I have needed tissue alerts quite a bit today.  This was beautiful, GS, absolutely breath taking!!  And I am sure that your Dad heard even the unspoken "love yous"...if he didn't then...he knows of them now.

God bless, m'friend, and hugs to you!   ~  Becka

I know this type
of hanky alert...
that's why I keep
the jar of applebutter
from 1992 - her last batch
with her last bit
of handwriting...

and the copper dog...
somewhere on there,
are his fingerprints...

yes,
I know this emocean....
