urgent questions tapping head
i know the sweat stained headband &
full scent of fresh baked bread
floating on summer air
river systems pushing a full cart

remembering to write down the debit
before it reaches the bank
now, i’m not so hungry
i’ve been eating nothing but salad
for 8 years….and i can’t remember the poem
while coffee for one becomes my nature

the compass zig-zags, hugging my cheeks
and the window refuse to open

i’ve forgotten something….

oh, i remember how it was, vaguely
free weight of luminous nights and
essentials saying so many words
kinda like fiber optics squeezing colors
into silken beds….just for us to paint
every bridge was another we built
together…
like mutual friends
taking the long way home

now,
while putting the groceries away
the list reads, only milk, bread and eggs
i hear secrets of roses opening
into pure drafty corners
corners which bite my ring finger
like a fraud, who yawns when women cry

the clouds are low to the ground
listening for paradise
blue and withered
and i can’t for the life of me
remember the time
when i owned that blustering lust
wanting to know everything, bout everything

now i bite the silence
i should have known better
it bites me back…imagine…this unfitting
folly of absent minded absolution
succumbing, ravishing me with whimsy
howls cling to my door, like an impotent drug
with bird flu
my insurance is running on empty
but i embrace each scoring shift
and sensory skill
like the light of a full moon

obscure shines light on the devil’s tears
like the if in sci-fi
it was the getaway which turns on defense
now, moody still life looses ambition
and steven segal doesn’t even know I exist
but, hey, i only need color prints once in a while
then, i think about the power of pay checks
and the shelf life of a flawless jewel
the one launched by a simple invisible arrow

and I wonder bout tidal surges buckling
garage doors while picking up the Saturday morning
cartoon schedule...

Very poignant, LeeJ!

"then, i think about the power of pay checks
and the shelf life of a flawless jewel
the one launched by a simple invisible arrow"

You made me remember a few past writes...

this being one...

And there's another...

but I don't think I did them the justice you've done, here.

Nah, I think I'll hang my pens out to dry,
and just read you.
