Her sojourn on the other side
of human happiness
brings fingers rapping, scraping,
down her window pane
and only she can hear
this screech of reality
pierce through the lining
of her sensitivity.

At other times a lullaby
and she falls asleep
to the distant memory of
a woman’s sexuality
once vibrant and alive
like a rose in bloom.

Today she moves in tune
with friendship’s lowly beat
that rises to crescendos
when loneliness appears
and though still learning steps
it’s okay until she rests
because then the world of soul
overtakes the known.

Passion rises like a tree,
tall, stately - this is her
when the music of soul
plays its haunting melody
close up and personal
and, indeed, deep within …
but it passes over
when fingers rap and scrape
down her window pane.

Midnight chimes the hour
somewhere, sometime, the change
when no window pane
disturbs the world of soul …
but of love, will it be there
or still fighting ghoulish ghosts
over there on the other side
of spirit happiness?

Thanks, Dixie.  I guess the "other side" of anything stirs up the emotions.
