man of subtle
currents
he is an autumn
stream of depths
still warm from
a season past
steadied
into pools
of captured sky
his clouds
trees
reach down
to heights
beyond vision
deep as stars
while he holds
quietly aside
pensive
stands reflected
infinite
within

for hubert neth, who is as close
to an ideal man as god ever made,
save one, and whom I tried for years
to pattern myself on, while becoming
merely me.

Here is one of his -- such excellence I could have grown up with...and never knew.

wilderness

we are
lost
jesus was
led there
that is where

took the people of
the promise

tell me
about
your
wilderness
what stays with
you
or
who
and
on the road
to
where

Eddy darling man, now this is excellent writing, YOU may be merely you, but I consider you to be one hell of a poet, and I, I say blushing modestly am considered to be something of a  good judge on these things. Mainly because i had such a quality education, that isn't to say i made the best use of it, but still it was of excellent quality.

Truly excellent writing as always and I really love it
Love and warm stuff

you inspire...

I keep a fragrance bottle my
muse gave me when I met him
in endless winter and he
settled me into remembering
who I am.

And that "save one"... You may disagree, but I know whom that is, Mr. Merely Me. *S*

This is incredibly lovely... you write this man of goodness with such an understanding pen... I hope you send this to him!!

"deep as stars" ...as are you, it seems.
His words are inspiring. Your words are inspiring. I think becoming 'merely you' is something to be proud of.

it has been awhile since I have had the opportunity to read your poems. After reading this one I now regret not keeping up with your work.

Yes...I was so glad to see this one come back from the depths.... In this edition of Open there are a bunch of what (to me) are my strongest poems ever -- pieces of my heart -- and some of them just tumbled through......

But if I could have chosen one of them to get resurrected, it might well have been this one.
