grief snuck up hauled back
and gut punched the day
the hours and minutes winced
and slowed to barely a crawl

the day countered with a sharp inhale
the sky paled and the strength drained
from the earth’s greens and browns
the clear blue quickly clouded over and then
the rains came

yes, it does sneak up just when you think you are away from it

and then the rains come

but the sun always shines again

If caring could be an umbrella... you'd peek from comfort just long enough to see the rainbows.

Excellent write, my friend.

I have heard it time and time again, and always "they" say, "time" heals.

I think not, m'self.

Days like these come again and again, and the pain of loss is always new, and not a surprise, and yet, it still catches one offguard--like a suckerpunch.

You have the words, j.b.

Hon, I understand these feelings so well.
And, like Karen said, sometimes time doesn't heal.
With some things we will think we are better
about them, then they come right back with that
same "gut-punch" and we are right back where we started from.

Dear Beans of Jelly, you have a way of just reaching out and grabbing the solar plexus ~ and the heart ~ of your readers. I feel your words.

You are a wonderfully expressive writer.

Sending you an extra-loving hug,
EA

This put me in a certain... how would I describe it... an earthy, weathery mood. Enjoyed.
