(2:5 Rain)  Pregnant Clouds

She lay brooding at dawn
With bruised eyes fixed on some tumultuous
Never more as always goes with storms

I watched lithe limbs bend
And her gravid belly swell
As she remembered how it had been with him
Who filled her in needful echoes
With the sound of soft winds
Catching on the edges of silk

Bared again

With pregnant words still born
At end of tongue
I waited for her to begin the rage of empty vowels
As I pictured them locked in a dance
Syncopated by the intervening miles
That left them unable to embrace
Anything but the clouds she is

I drank deeply from the breast of sky
Catching drops on lips that swelled

July can be so dry

And my thirst grew from deep within
The collision of warm moist thoughts
sheathed in heated miles bent into careless
cumulus coils
where,
          Lightning begins

To fork its split fingers over skin
While high above my heart the bruises yellow
And I pray St Elmo’s fire to wrap me
Inside the feel of her

to let me live
          One more hour
and hear her speak as she rises over me
Heavy with rain

her child
yet born to earth or breath
So is the death of June
That would writhe round hungry roots
And fall to parched stone

Seeking crevices between the then
Of always ever more

And now

I am indeed, most fortunate, to share "part of" your skies with you, m'friend. I watched last night as the storm built over my space, and I knew it was headed to yours. I wondered if it would bead some drops of pleasure from your pen...

and I can see, it did.

As ever, consider me the grateful reader....

~

this is so visual and so vivid....I pray now the skies will rain here as well....remarkable you are....

I keep a fragrance bottle my
muse gave me when I met him
in endless winter and he
settled me into remembering
who I am.

I saw those same skies here today..
This was a most appropriate read
the clouds cried as I sighed.
Well done Sir!

"Catching on the edges of silk

yep, a nice way to bare the soul
and anything else that needs to be bared
