An Undialed Call
By Larry Chadwick
In memory of Ginger Michelle

I called your brother and talked tonight,
making our holiday plans.
We spoke about getting together,
and all kinds of stuff.

I called your grandma and talked tonight,
making our plans for the weekend.
We spoke of the advantages
of being old.

I called your uncles and talked tonight,
checking in with each other.
We spoke of our love we share
that never grows old.

I finished my calls satisfied
with what I had done.
But left with a sense that
something was incomplete.

Then I smiled when
I realized what it was.
There was no way
that I could call you.

I spoke to you tonight,
though no dial tone was used.
It was mostly about
how I long to see you again…

If I understood your words right, that one call is the one your heart aches for yet there's no cure for the pain that is felt because it can not be made. Your writing is very beautiful with so much feeling and tenderness.
God Bless!

Larry I've missed reading you...where have you been?  You don't have to answer that...hehe

I know she heard you...and you her...hugs Larry to you and yours, and thank you for your always amazingly beautiful words.

Larry

I call Michelle all the time too...in a very special way, that only belongs to she and I, just like you.

Tndeer1,
You guess correctly. My daughter died at 28 years of age three years ago. And thank you for such kind words. Also, welcome to Passions I hope you like it as much as I have. It is a very giving place, like yourself.

Karilea,
She always has. Thank you kind friend.

M,
That is it exactly. Thank you for understanding and sorry about your sister, I don't think I knew that.

Susan,
I'll always, always take those. And thank you.

Sy,
It seems you know common sense best. It is nice to see you floating around here. I need to look you up. And thank you kind sir.

LeeJ,
No secrets. My life is especially hectic right now and I am not online at home. Besides I'm a 2 hours a day commuter now. Anyway, thank you for your sweetness and I've missed you too.

Ruthie,
My experience says you are correct, as usual. Thanks sweet lady.

Martie,
Interesting how our experiences can be so personal yet so shared. Please know I think of you very often and your Michelle.

scorpio,
Thank you for your kindness.

Kacy,
Ahh, now that was very tender and kind. I needed that, thanks.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

James,
And as you are the epitomy of kindness I take that very kindly. Thanks.

SoundWaves,
Thanks for that. And welcome to Passions. Seems you should fit right in. Cool!

Larry...Your poems about Ginger always shows me how lucky I am when things aren't going just right between me and my daughter.
They are so precious and each day spent with them a treasure that will last forever. Thank you for sharing...Paul

Paul,
Some times it's about perspective. Thanks Paul.

Susan,
Actually, I consider it a gift...from God. And thanks tons.

This has touched me, Larry.  I think that there is no greater than to reach out like this and move another person.

Thank you.
