As words I do not want
can’t stand to hear
bullet-fire into my ear,
I watch a tiny bird
weave in and out
the iron scroll
on a nearby balcony.

Focusing on him
keeps screams silent
as all illusions of normality
drift to the ground
empty husks
stripped of seed
all that’s left is need
and I’ve no answers.

How I envy
his option to fly!
In just a moment
motion will be my fate
and the only path leads
straight to hell
but all is well
with my feathered friend

He even mocks me with
a song of hope
as he soars into the sunset.

Belle, perhaps you will be a bird in your next life!  Hummingbird

Whenever I feel the need to scream my bloomin' halo off, I go into my linen closet and bury my head in the linens and let loose like Mount St. Helen's!

In spite of your present state of discomfiture, you managed to pen a gem!

... and remember what Orphan Annie sang out! ~ "The sun will come out tomorrow!"

Oh darn gal I know this and the desire to find the answers that never seem to come. Poignant and well written Ruth.

Beloved one, Ahh sweet one, despite the turmoil  you still manage to write beauty, I wish I had one thimbleful of your talent, but there is no point in me bemoaning what I don't have, and cope with what I do. Which isn't much but I offer it anyway beloved one A shoulder to lean on and arms to wrap you in a loving hug.

Brilliantly penned my sweet poetess, you are as always, and yes it is always, brilliant at painting the picture, without any extraneous lines, pictures, or wasted words. Simply divine writing.

You always make a visit here worthwhile darling heart, thank you for the wonder that is you.

Love you always
and forever

The talent of your words show that you fly among clouds with hidden silver linings....This poem gives flight and brought us along for the ride...I love it...*big hugs*

now as far as distractions go...
forget the birds....
I got a better idea...
order a pizza and ask for the young, cute delivery boyeeee....

ok... I gotta another one...
check your email when you have time...
tell the werk monster I said so. *L*

Writers try to capture the exhilaration of Nature & inspiration of Love.
The attempts may be futile, the endeavors are all things that is poetry.

Oh yes Laura...do I ever identify with this....and do I ever wish you had no need to write it. Some tragedies come over us so fast, leave us bereft, but others....are the worst kind because they go on and on.

Still, I wish you joy.....and the knowledge that sooner or later you will be able to follow that bird.

Thank you all so very much... I appreciate your kind comments more than I can express. *S*

I wasn't even sure it was a poem... and my trusted compass wasn't available... Thank you for accepting whatever it is. *S*
