Open Heart Surgery

There is a weakness
that comes with the pain.
A no return,
a realist of the again.

With the once too often
taking its toll.
This time, time's lost
and there is no console.

There are penalties in life,
for each action rewards.
Sometimes destruction
of soft tissues ignored.

Till the shrinking of such
rests only in dreams.
And the piercing of each
is a hazard, it seems.

There are letters and cards
remembrances, unshamed.
Tokens and feelings
given freely, untamed.

Knowledge of truth, still,
the last yet arrived.
The casting of shadows
to be doomed, though alive.

And the guilt that is carried
weighs heavily so,
touching heart that was opened
in the wanting to know.

It is now in the passions of throw
that there's pain.
and the drowning in sorrow
is nobody's gain.

Just a fact in this life
that the fragile of core
needs the open of heart
to be sutured once more.

If you've any sutures to spare... I know where there's need.

This touched me deeply... beautiful write!

Gosh, having gone through open-heart surgery last year, I clicked on your title with a bit of trepidation. lol

I also understand the sutures of the heart that you so eloquently wrote of.

You have such a delicate pen ~ and heart.

Loving, comforting and healing hugs,
Linda

I remember such "operations" well...  No amount of general anesthesia can knock one out as the aftermath of a broken heart...  Very beautiful, Maureen, in its own sad way...

Even though the sutures be perfectly placed there will always be a scar of remembrance...A poem that touches the soul of any who read it...My heart goes out to you, dear one...*big hugs*
