The Foolish Heart Of Mine

You can be fooled once
But do not be fooled twice
Why have I not listened
When giving myself advice

Fooled more than twice
A lesson I seem to ignore
Its the soft heart of mine
That returns back for more

Ignoring my own advice
I have to accept the breaks
The foolish heart of mine
Makes the same mistakes

Falling into fools paradise
Being aware this fool is me
Time after time I entered
To the same loving fantasy

As always the foolish one
Don't tell me I already know
I never heeded my advice
My heart could never let go

well I was fooled once...and that was enough for me

I think when you hold back a part of you
(doesn't matter which you it is m/f)
then  you aren't in a committed relationship and it is "foolish" to even strive for more.
A lesson learned the hard way

As I got older and having boyfriends my motto always was...."If it ain't going to work the first time, it isn't going to work the second time."

Then I got married and that motto went out the window. I took him back not once but twice. I definately learned my lesson. But I walked away knowing I gave it my all and no one deserves to be treated like that.

I love this write.

well, I'm embarrased to say, I used to be, a glutton for punishment...finally though and thru much support and many readings (thanks to PIP) I've grown, and now, once burned, twice becomes, not an issue...hehe..

thank you hope for a great write

I certainly know the feeling and it had been embedded in my heart for 14 yrs. until I gave up and got out. Hopefully with Gods help, it won't happen again. So far so good on this one I'm married to now. As of July 1st. we'll be married for 19 yrs. so I've passed the (what I call) DREADED MARK, LOL!
Beautiful, heartfelt writing.
