The eyes of the wolf
devouring shadows passing
from two moons rising

Hunger of the wolf
consuming her in no sense
as shadows stand still

Spirits of the wolf
live within such passed shadows
... drowned before the hunt

Of the wolf ...
eyes hunger spirits

innocence

"In life's giving ... love is a gift, such worth living."

If it wasn't right, wasn't real ...
then why did it make us feel ....?

Nice write Craig, tho I do have to ask, and just because I love to get the inner and hidden meaning of poetry that I read...

Is there an underlying message here (as with lots of poetry) and if so, what do the "two moons rising" symbolize?

I love anything relating to wolves, and that is why I ask.

And, the "she" in the write, is this the wolf or another element?

Once again, nice write... just wanted a further look into the poem.

well .... I love wolves too, Tima ...

there is always underlying messages in poetry, however
I always try to write in ways for the reader to
        find their own message ....

the two moons? ... the eyes of course
rising from rest to alerting stare ....

... wait a minute ... perhaps it is two souls in the whims of love ....
... reaching and yearning ... hmmm ...   lol!!

and the "she"? ... the same, the wolf? .... possible
perhaps Love itself? ... or maybe even a fellowv soul of the pen? ... maybe ...

again, its all in your own representation ....

Hope I was of help!!   lol

KC  ~  thank you for the nice reply!
... the picture is a bit of a stretch!!   lol

I didn't quite understand this one...maybe you can explain...what is the significance of passing shadows, still shadows, and shadows passed relating to the characteristics of the wolf?

what was drowned before the hunt?

and why did you choose 'innocence' to be the last word?

I can't even come to an interpretation of my own with this and I've read it many times now

hmmmmm ..

seems to be alot of need to explain each piece to this post ...
I have written such like it before ....
and not even asked one explaination ...      so ....

Shadows, in passing ... still ... these are representations
       of time...
in aspects of the wolf? .... perhaps some can relate the
wolf to being Life ... in the aspects of what life
         may have instore ...

Drowned? ... well, if it represents life ... perhaps what is drowned is any chances of the hunt ....
the hunt? ... seems to me to be the future ....

Seems to me that there is alot of unecessary explainations going on ....
and with coming out of IMs just now with one of the fellow poets
in question .... I will say this

           Simplicity can be exasperating ....
not everything is at it appears ...

I have explained myself here in enough ways ...
If anyone cares to really hear my representation of this poem  ...
its simple ... ask me ....

even the powers to be can and should be able to do that ....

"if by chance my words find your heart ....
please, let your heart find the words"

                  Constructive Critiques ....

Hearts have nothing to do with understanding the meaning of a poem. I have a college degree and I have studied literature.

I gave you a constructive critique by saying I don't get the meaning, and asked you to clarify.

sometimes the hunger of the wolf can be so overwhelming, it does not remember why and what the hunt is all about.....maybe a different moon is rising.....in the spirit of the wiser wolf....

hugsssss you...

I keep a fragrance bottle my
muse gave me when I met him
in endless winter and he
settled me into remembering
who I am.

(quoting Dixie) "Hearts have nothing to do with understanding the meaning of a poem"

Since when? I have a college degree, but it's generally my raw heart that interprets the 'feelings' of poetry, rather than any formal training.

Getting back to the poem...
I enjoy most any writing on wolves and such...
they carry such a beautiful mystique about them.

Thank you, Craig
