There’s a river round the corner
and it runs down to the sea
there to recycle accumulated garbage
and swim the highs and lows
towards purity.

The river uses me
as a bank of certain truth
and the stone o’er which it flows
quite unconcernedly
and the stone begets more stones
or is it just the known
that grows to dam the quickening
of peace and harmony?

Set to flow in downward mode
the river yet is free
to meander in a groove
wherever it may please
until one day it mixes in
with elements of self
and emerges as an entity
bereft of direction.

Meadows of the past
beckon a short repose
but the river knows it has to go
somewhere beyond the feel
of unrequited love
growing slime and weeds
from the corners to the middle
of waters that are free.

The river sings a love song
until it becomes the sea
but who will claim the legacy
of a gentle river’s song
when only the deaf
sit by the riverside?

those who hear the river consistently will hopefully guide those who do not hear
people as yourself, through beautiful poetry such as this...

Ofttimes it is the deaf who truly see and the blind who truly hear.

I enjoy your poetry, Dear Bunches of Honey!

Honeybunch
Didn't they write a song called,"Down by the river side." You certainly know how to sweeten things up.

Helen~
The beauty of this wends it's way so gracefully~

'The river uses me
as a bank of certain truth'

Oh, how I like that thought~

*sigh* I am one of the deaf ones who sit on the river bank and listen as it tells me the stories of life...I find my soul to be deeply soothed by the singing of the river...A wonderful piece of writing...*hugs*
