Never close enough

When the memories decide
to finger through
the breeze
outside my
broken window

I recall
when not too
long ago
it was you and I-

not me alone
that swam
in the sounds
of night time
and settling down

It didn't matter
that the wind blew
there was me,
and there was you

Just to loners
looking for
something
to fill the hours
in between
there and here

when it didnt
matter
that the clock
would tick

sending us both
back where we
came from

I would watch
you leave
through
this broken window

and know

that tomorrow
you would be
just as lonely
and I
would be watching
you

walking toward me
once again,
instead of
waving
goodbye

"walking toward me

instead of
waving
goodbye"
