Rain 1:13

Lost Behind The Arc

When Michael’s wings sighed
In a brush of high cloud atop of her
He paused to feel the way she moved
Only to descend into the depths
Of her swirl

She lies now beyond the curve of earth
And even though she stretched from ground
To someplace just below thin air
Where no man can live
Is now hidden from my eyes
While the sun laughs a wavered mirage
That turns any distance to water
One is unable to hold in cupped palms
Or to trickle down a parched throat
So must drink only with their eyes
As sad relief from the humid air
That closes elastic fingers round lung
And leaves wet stains on skin

I drip and rain again from brow
Thinking how it was when she left
Long wet marks
Upon the bark of cedar limbs in a spend
Of drops she could not hold

My brow drips again

And the sun runs his razor tongue
Across the land
Licking dry keepsake pools
I once found respite

Michael fell into the vortex of her
And felt the pull of earth she claimed
So spread his wings
And only slowed the spiral down
Knowing he too would taste the ground
And feel her over him

He wondered too
How heaven moved against his heart
Caught against the tops of clouds
  Yet buried deep in earth

Ron

I love the beauty of this deep place you go to find the images that turn your words to art!

I really need to read these all together--this series truly a work of art and I'd hate to miss the connections and underlying theme.

and this is a refreshing breeze as I just stepped in from out of the steam bath. (meaning I actually stepped outside today)

What can I say...it's been said...
but more to the point...
runnels of salt
mar my face.

He wondered too
How heaven moved against his heart
Caught against the tops of clouds
  Yet buried deep in earth

I keep a fragrance bottle my
muse gave me when I met him
in endless winter and he
settled me into remembering
who I am.
