They slowly slide, as though struggling
to quell and remain.   The earth lies near
...as does he.   They tremble, shimmer,
quiver...
Waiting, for that moment just before
they are gone.

They touch my face, cool my hand,
moisten my lips..embarrass me.  And,
in the end, when the rains no longer
mask and dry winds take from them
their essence...a turned head hides,
gently releases...and then they fall.

Some days, soft clouds carry them on
a slow journey, looking from high, in
want of a parched field, a weathered
hand....a pursed lip in need of dampening.
For there are clouded days, clear and
somber days when a grown man remembers...

And cries....

Tears are welling in my own eyes as well...
Barry, I always feel your words.

oh mag/barryman...

you leave me without a punchline here.

Very lovely and nice job of point of view exercize from an "old man"--the proof of a real writer is to write from another's perspective effectively. You pulled it off, dude. You write with maturity beyond your years.

I enjoyed the soft flow of this, like an unexpected breeze.

There are those moments ... synchronicity of tears and rain ... feeling the grip of melancholy so deeply.

Touching write, only a truly strong man will ever admit these moments of emotional release.

You have done it beautifully, dear Barry.

Love,
Margherita

Those memories,
the tears...
only show how special
the man...

May I just echo what Karilea said above...
and give you a tight hug.
Well done Barry.

Words, words that take you there....to sit alongside what is described, to be there completely and no where else for the moment....this is what this poem does, this is poetry.
