Looking back now it’s not hard to see
Starting when I was only 2 or 3
Not knowing what was really going on
But never the less I had two parents “Mom & Dad”

Years go by, I made friends, some keep asking me
Who is that man?
Not having the same name as I, looking nothing alike
I hold my head up high and say he is my dad.

My dad,
I ponder
But biologically not holding us together.
So many people say to me you are only what’s in your genes.
Look back and see with me
What he gave me and how much I am him,

Bullheaded is not only me, but us together can you see
Taking on a little girl only 2 or 3
How can people not see even though he was not there to share in my birth
He has shown me so much and gave his life to me

My dad
He taught me money, love and life
Even though I may not have listened then
Sharing only what he thinks is best

All the years growing up trying so hard not to be like him,
Young girl pushing herself away for her father
To find all the answers herself

I want to say even though I may still push you away at times
You are my father and I am part of you even
If you did not help bring me in to this word
You have given me so much
I see now how much
I am most like you

On this fathers day I want to say thank you
For taking on that little girl only 2 or 3
And stating by he side for 24 years and so many
More to come

With all I am and all you are
We are more alike then
We may admit to each other
But I love you and I know you love me too

Thanks you again

Happiest of Fathers day to you
MY DAD

Thinking, from what you've said, he is going to love this, but turn away a little so that you don't see the moisture in his eyes.  A very loving tribute!
