For two I love... one human, one feline.

                Days of Decline

I trim your hair
                                   Brushing soft fur
and shave your face
                                   I hear your purr
as if loving care
                                   But you are leaving
Could postpone acceptance
                                   I choke with grief
of the invitation
                                   for all that was
death has issued
                                   and will never be again
But baths and fresh clothes
                                   Beauty is but memory
Are cosmetic improvements
                                   Your faltering steps
It’s a good day
                                   Have forgotten play
When no accidents occur
                                   Frail and demanding
Clinging and irascible
                                   I’m never enough
You’re not who you were
                                   But you are mine
I ask you to
                                   Plead that you
                     stay

fill each moment with memories for when they're all that's left

You did this so well, so smoothly...
an intricate weaving of two loved individuals,
bringing them together
in your heart.

suthern,
Yes! Masterfully done.  You make it look so easy, but I'm sure it isn't!  Your comparisons are vivid, drawing me in.
   Take care, beautiful lady.

Beautiful and loving write....
I like how you structured this.

I read this earlier, and it made me cry so I didn't reply just then, but I wanted you to know, it touched me...

Laura...I'm glad you decided to post this. You go to such deep places, and take us there with no purpose other than to share them....no posing, no motives, merely sharing part of yourself. I like that very much.

Decline? It's days of REcline ya want! Go do that for a while, eh? Then pick up those problems and they'll be lighter.

This was wonderful. The way it was written, the weave of emotion, the depth of expression, the reminder of the sad reality that we are all only here for awhile.

Bravo!

Belle, not only were you able to convey your deep love for them, you were also able to celebrate their lives in a most compassionate and loving way.

~ an intricate weave to this fine piece of poetic tapestry.

Sending loving, healing hugs,
Linda

Ratleader: Thanks for those grins, my friend... I love the thought, even if days of RE-cline are but a dream! *S* And thank you for assuring me this was worth posting...

I thank you all for your incredibly kind responses... they mean so much to me. This is very real... and your comments make me feel less inadequate...

Thank you... so much.

Blues: Thank you so much, sweet lady. *S*

serenity: Gets to where that's all you can hear, doesn't it? *S* Thank you... and {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

adagio: Folks like Ratleader make it look so easy... but I knew better. *G* So the only reason I tried this form is that I couldn't get either verse to consent to being second. *G* Thank you so much!!

Beloved one, finally I get the chance to reply to this soft weaving of wonder. You know beloved that this touched me so very deeply, I can almost see the two slipping softly away into the light. YOU are a wonder and your strength, your ability to paint the picture with this delicate and interweaving of such amazing depth and warmth is unsurpassed. I truly love this beautiful layering of memories your presented here, and I promise I will make the most of what i have while i have it.

Love you always
and forever
