When I First Saw You

Softly, did my eyes consume you
When first laid upon your face
Captivated pupils drawn to
Sweet demeanor of your grace
Like a slumbering child about to fall into a dreamers place

Not a youthful striking figure
Nor the contour of a brow
Nor the luring lips’ enigma
Nor the poise that God endowed
Were enticing eyes to gather fruits from off the laden bough

These were only petals turning
Outwardly to grasp the sun
Secretly my eyes were burning
With desires that had begun
To unravel inner splendors likened to no other one

Eyes of innocence revealing
Pearls of honor, gems of truth
Gentle ways and tender feelings
That an honest heart seduce
Love can paint from wisdom’s palette, the inherent whims of youth

Wow...that's nice!!!  Lovely words to describe that very special moment of time.
