She rose with grace
And the flow of her skirt whipped
By the wind she drew in breath
Swirled around the outlines of form
In patterns that moved across the sky

To the milk of her skin
Clung the rain inside to leave the illusion
Of dense grey to match the fey way
She whispered even far away
To the restless leaves of oak and birch
As they turned to greet her coming
Wet they dreamed of rain
And I tried my eyes closed again
To remember how the days were set to waste
When there was not enough of her
To seep deep to the roots
And to trickle across the face of stone
With its tired eyes unable to see but shadows
As it lay the buried half in and out alone

I would sleep inside the space
She left between her pour
And the roar inside as it sounded back again
An echo more
An echo less to match the sounds of wind
When she begins

But I find only the numbered steps
Six to the left then six turned to face myself
In a flash against the panes
Reflecting both her stormy countenance
Of split second shards
And the glyph of drops spelling out the words
My own tongue can not speak

One more storm she comes
As I find the tread worn
4 wide to match the 6 in a walnut confine
and wish again for sleep to come
that I might find comfort
come dreams or the sin
of bared flesh shared

sings her wind again
and I am blind
waiting for the thunder to begin

I keep a fragrance bottle my
muse gave me when I met him
in endless winter and he
settled me into remembering
who I am.

A stunningly poetic vision that reflects the power your pen has with its weaving...Magnificent...I completely enjoy the vision that changes with each reading...*hugs*

I like the multiple internal rhymes in this.  And the images.  Lovely images.

Once again, Cap'n, you caught her.  Elusive as her light is, as thunderous as her heart may be, you caught her well...only to let her go along her way...

However, no matter how unworthy any future offerings I might give may be, I will continue to strive toward THIS kind of magnificence!

Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen?  Keeping in mind, I must stand close...and keep my promises...

very touching
