Last Chance

I gave my ex-wife every reason to leave
me and when she finally left I was hurt,
I was surprised, begging her to give
our marriage another chance to survive.
Finally after some time passed by,
I realized that I had already used all
of my chances a long time ago, and when
you use your last chance, and such an
animal does exist, you don't get anymore.
You get pain, you get guilt, you get remorse,
you get everything from the dispised to the absurd.
Basically, you get exactly what you deserve.

funny how you never see that "last chance" come and go...I guess there are times when there just isn't any more to give, and you come to a crossroads...and lives change, or perhaps go the way they were always meant to, I suppose it's how you look at it...

the worst part is you don't know it's your last chance until you use it up.

this poem is of those unexpected things that smacks you in the face when you wake up one morning...
it's real, and sobering, and it hurts like hell.
enjoyed this, james.
