and already
the heart in its velvet depths,
mauve and inviolate,
is bathed in your voice,
                                   all dream

over the summer's pulmonary
blue tapestries of rain, of rain,
as it comes to anoint
the muted earth, cerulean
the wet soul, perishing
beneath these thick promises of fever,
                                   I come

away from your kiss
with something of your lips
still in my words,
     burn baby, burn,
as our fists open quietly
in the heavy downpour,
the nimble body kneels
in the long grass,
burning its delirium
tucked into the curled furrows
of slim muscles, quivering
in their swollen cribs
                 of rain, of rain,

as it coos over these fading
shades of gold and gray equilibrium,
quieted by the passage of wings
and somewhere overhead, sparrows
bruise their cobalt shadows
on these long, blue ribbons of rain
and vertigo consumes my wounds
as they sing to the heart,
in its velvet depths,
mauve and inviolate
and already bathed
in your voice,
               all dream.

Dreams seem to have recently
taken over my awaking moments
as well...

and indeed, some burn...

but at least you got yours
in print.

Enjoyed this, Mari....

Oooooooooooooo,

sparrows
bruise their cobalt shadows
on these long, blue ribbons of rain
and vertigo consumes my wounds
as they sing to the heart,
in its velvet depths,
mauve and inviolate
and already bathed
in your voice,
               all dream.

Wish I could even begin to think in techicolor as you do!  One of my favorites from the book!

ah...it would seem from all I have read of late..and scratched out on ppaer myself, that rain..and this season of rain..finds its way into words..and in the case of this and others I have read..into art..

nicely done ma'am..as always... you weave the images and words into something that one can draw from each time they read..another bit or byte of meaning...

I agree with Ron...I too was taking notice of all the "rain" offerings...

truly magnificent mix of dreams and rain...
