Lotus Blossoms Are Calling

The storm-tossed breakers rumble so loudly,
I can scarce hear my own thoughts in my head.

(What does it matter?)

In truth...
it does not.

Let the surf roar with short-lived hardihood,
it has more to say then I.

Once I reached hungrily for new frontiers.
Like these waves I wished to be understood,
only my words were a Gordian knot,
and much was lost in the weave of my thread.

Can rhythm's pennon be flown proudly?

Perhaps not!
Yet in truth who really cares!

There's a tempo in the crash of breakers.
They resonate deep in terra firma,
like a sledgehammer hitting an anvil.

(If you stand very still you can feel them.}

This watery waste is an opaque gem,
yet these waves could carry me to Seville,
or perhaps even to mythical Burma,
where I could stroll her mountainous acres.

Why can't these combers take me unawares?
Where is my gateway to the Orient?

I'm searching (still) for my lotus blossom,
that sweet flower which I might call my own.
I'll not find her on this barren seacoast.

She's more exotic then America,
her name's not commonplace like Erica,
yet I'd follow her from pillar to post,
for she's porcelain made from china stone.

They say the power of love's awesome,
but too often it disorients.

Still...
I would lie on a silken bedstead,
if only once I could know its sweet kiss.
They say it wears the fragrance of crushed rose petals,
that its' lips are soft, voluptuous, and full.
Oh how I wish to drown in the depths of love's eyes.

The Orient does sensationalize!

I've never known the touch of virgin wool,
but I've felt the sting of savage nettles.
I've drowned in an oceanic abyss,
and I've tasted sugary raisin bread,
yet lotus blossoms are calling to me,
and I'll find them somewhere beyond this sea.

Hello ladies. Thank-you each and every one for the wonderful greetings. I am glad you liked the poem. This is an older piece...one I penned roughly 4 years ago. I edited the presentation the other day and thought I'd see how everyone liked its' new look. You all just put a smile upon my face. Hugs! Love - Kevin.

Yes you did indeed do some changing to this
piece from when I first read it.
It turned out beautifully.
