So, the amber tears
go burning, over our earth
in the bloodpath of a Sabbath kiss,
evening sells itself
to the sphinx moth's
length of tongue, come
upon the earthsong, undone
in acres of dream and drink

the calyx of heavy red flowers,
slaughtered on the cocksure splinters
of this jezebel night, red
red jezebel night wed
to the jagged panes of glass,
whose forsaken shards
I've sown into my palm in couplets

and sealed with candlewax, for love
burns its amber wick dipped
in sloe gin, and sore
these shoulders grow so raw, now
for want of their great black wings,
ache

in the early morning blush,
and wait for him to husband
the serenade of amber tears,
so relinquished to this,
our solemn dream.

I always, always enjoy the hues and textures you leave on paper (even the "virtual" kind)

Mari,

damn you know I will forever adore these lines:

these shoulders grow so raw, now
for want of their great black wings,

reminds me of Morrison in "American Prayer"

You amaze me, always and I want the dictionary in your head, please.

I always read...

and this one really pulled me in.  The quoted stanza, my favorite.  The use of the word "slaughtered" was so perfect there...so grabbing.  Well done.

Know what I enjoy most about your poetry?  Everyone reads it differently and absorbs it how they wish to see it, (as it should be.)  I loved this reference myself!

for love
burns its amber wick dipped
in sloe gin

Definitely a favorite one of yours.

some may read this, and feel saddness, but here, I feel a great understanding...not sad at all, but of more an accomplishment...excellent prose

in the early morning blush,
and wait for him to husband
the serenade of amber tears,
so relinquished to this,
our solemn dream.

I hope he does, and know, so do you, but if he doesn't I to know, you'll understand...you possess great knowledge of what can be and what cannot be...your a very mature woman...allowing and intellectual...

BRAVO!!!!!
