My god I had tenacity
and this is what I am, reduced,
to pleading with your eyes of lead
enticed by little girls seduced
by luxury of feeling good
lies like cats in sprawl of this:
silky satin wishfulness
awakened rudely by the thrall
of thumb and fingertip in rough
calloused by the knowledge of
tiny tenderloins are cut
too rough against the grain

Cat is thumping restlessness

waiting for the pounce

abstained

licking scent from perfect paw
a preparation of the hunt
administration of last rites
as the rage whispers the urge
of claws become a cage of lust

and razors bite and break the back

sharp

is merciful I said
as I shook the rodent slack
and sighed a pause of playfulness--

so sorry it was dead

I said,

"What else is there to do?"

Awesome read, Serenity.  Merciful.  And the lust.  Really, I kinda had to chuckle, too.  But when read another way, this poem is just plain powerfully strong.  I love that about your poems...many times, I find more than one meaning.  And hey, sometimes I'm just to thick to get it on the first read.... but each time I read, I am even more greatly impressed than the first time.  Well....I'm off to catch a rat.....lol...just kidding.   ....jo
