Saluting with misty eyes

0 posted 2005-05-24 03:14 PM

He sat back in his chair
Staring into the fire
Thinking, feeling, wondering
About the life he had led to this point
Was he ready to die here in this moment
Did he have regrets to dispel
Was he sorry for what he had done or not
He considered himself right then
Dogs at his feet,
Brandy at his lips
Alone, always alone
His sightless eyes continued to gaze at the flames
The snifter shattered to the floor
And he rode his final thoughts into the Beyond

My apologies on the re-post, however my Muse is on a semi-permenant vacation, and there is a little girl who liked it the first time, and asked her Uncle Bradly to post it for her Daddy.

I'm drowning, choking
   Falling deeper into this
   Black hole we call living

I love the last line of this one.  Its introspective feel was well done.

I loved this one the first time, and it hits spots anew in my life. You weave words so well. Thanks for sharing this again.

I read your earlier note - and I give
my condolences to the loss of a loved one...

that she asked this for her father,
says a lot about her, and the man.

Sending prayers, and hugs.

Thank you all for reading this re-post. I am glad you all enjoyed it.
And thanks, Sunshine for the kind words and thoughts about Sportsgirl's father (she actually posted here ONE time, and hasn't wanted to again... her post )

Next time, I promise a new post for all.
