O'
Twist of fate
that brought me here
one precious moment too late
Parting farewell from this heart
explosive remnant of swift depart
Salvaged watch from rubbled heap
rusts forever in hour of your sleep
the hands of time no more do turn
across the life of this daughter
Daddy I hold each tick of you
as if there should be more
Rewind Of Remind

*Memories of my father remind me of his pocketwatch
the firefighters found and returned to us
after the explosion that took his life
The hands forever silenced
at the precise heartbreak of time*

This is stunning, my friend... My heart holds you today as you remember... may there be many smiles in those memories as well as the inevitable tears.

That must have been a most tragic moment for
you and all of your family...I know the feel
of losing a parent early in life...and I
want you to have this big hug...

Time does not heal all wounds, but it does wound all heels.

This resonated with me, and for a moment I heard the ticking clearly.

Well done.

Thank you ALL so kindly~
Sometimes it seems like a forever ago ... and sometimes it seems like yesterday~
The memories of that day often come flashing back with a clarity that makes it difficult to remember ....~

So sadly I think of the grandchildren my dad missed knowing and the great grandchildren who will only know him through my memories~

In the tender teen years I learned that life is held in such a fragility of time ... never knowing when one that we love will be taken ...

Fortunately for me, my father was almost as good a 'packrat' as I am ... I was blessed with a cedar chest of treasures that I can 'touch' in my remembers~

*Huglets* to each of you for the blessing of your friendship~
