The days whine of fallen petals.
Springtime warmth is in the air,
even as a never-ending ache flares
within these chilled solitary bones.

I still hear your laughter
in my sweaty night dreams,
watch you throw your head back
to let go all the day’s traumas
even as pain dared you to scream.

We climbed love’s hillside together,
jumped over puddles and pebbles
pretending it would never end.
In our hearts, it never did.

Dust settles on frayed carpets,
and the petals whine
the scent of yesterday,
as I breathe you in.

Such a wonderful way to remember yesterday, dear Kacy!
The heart is the place where we can store the scent of yesterday and recall it when the yearning becomes unbearable.
I think it's good to do as if ... otherwise we would never really enjoy the moment.

Love, Margherita

Kacy, there was not a hint of saddness in this, just great admiration for a moment in time...knowing the purpose of it, will give you great moments the rest of your life.

Wonderfully done!  Thank you for sharing.

I like the touch of this.
Nicely done.

(I do wonder about the use of "whine".  Explain?  As I read it I also wonder if I might try "wine" instead.  That's stretching usage, but it might work.)

glider, it's wine or whine, sometimes both simultaneously, depending upon the moment.
LOL, I whine when the day falls too soon, when I am not ready for it to end but it does anyway...then I whine with my wine. Does that make sense? ~sigh~ some days I fly out of control.
But thanks to everyone here for keeping me grounded and also for lifting me up? I know, I'm offering a confused metaphor here....LOL, no apologies though.
It's just me.
