Be Still, My Love
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Be still, my love.
Listen to soft
watercolor
memories
that drip,
drop by drop,
from this broken
vessel of love.

Reach out thy hand
and touch
mine fractured
face of clay.
Behold me not
in disdain,
as I weep tears of blood
into the fissures
of this once fertile
soil of the gods.

Our time of harvest
had been ever so plentiful.
But, alas, screaming winds
have stripped the fruit
from verdant vines,
leaving the urn
of my soul,
drained
and
empty.

Taste the salt
of mine tears,
as this now barren land
greedily drinks
of mine essence,
bearing not
the fruit of love's
sweet berries.
I cannot remain,
~ nor can I leave.
My listless spirit
cries out in vain
for what
once
was.

Come, my love.
Take mine hand
in thine.
Let us begin anew
with the coming
of burgeoning Spring,
that we might reclaim the
passions of seasons past.
Let us relinquish all regrets,
for the time is ripe
for planting seeds of love,
~ not tears of sorrow.

Such a beautiful rendition, Linda...
you took time, patience, and feelings,
and left us a poetic gift of art.

'Our time of harvest

In it's entirety it read so beautifully ... but something ... something ... stands out in these thoughts above~

You captured the olde feeling and placed it gently before the reader ... ahhhhhh ~
Nicely done~

Well, bless you for saying say! It pleases me greatly that you perceive my poem thusly! I enjoyed writing it and then searching for a painting that would complement it!

May your day be filled with wonder and joy!

(smiles) Yay, this poem at first made me sad in that it felt like it was going to be a sad lost love poem, but the sunshine came peaking in at the end from behind the clouds, yay! (angel friendship hugs) This is sooooooo true to the wonders of the Romantic Era, yay, you truly skipped many generations, hehe, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
