removed and empty
casually forsaking magic & moon glows
light of dawn, erases all minute men
retiring after that first afternoon
devoid of living proof except through
the glass of their own windows…
outstretched, groping for spirit dwellers
distortion, eats ethereal reflections
whose fears come out at night,
hiding behind human emptiness
substances with cheshire grins
micro bursts of well meaning, beaten paths
hidden by obscurities,
that i would come to know intimately

tomorrow changes burned out street lights
to sweet songs of familiar spring tattoos
painted on the forehead of my room mate
we turn homes into castles
she is the flesh of mine soul filled desires
when i’m to afraid to think

for whatever reasons, some school bell
screeches across the girth of my door
i try to sleep in, but the alarm echoes a need for
habitual exercise while
smirking at my mama’s home made recipes

pulling me back toward it’s source
embarrassment spills out of my book
giving me a mild scent of practicality
shaking me hard…and ridden with guilt!

just to remind me, to remember what they stood for
gravity pulling them onto a road of passers by
filled with memories to,
standing on the other side
pointing to a small balloon, stumbling drunkenly
touching a weeping rock garden for the wanton of
another joint…

i could only stare in disbelief, at my own small mind
“sheesh”, i uttered, “elvis has left the building”
giving new meaning to a day late and a dollar short!

faces of people handed me pockets full of ideas
without concern for being right
simply put, it was the semblance of their namesake
existing out of hallucinations…be it compliant
dna or excuse to justify walking into traffic?

my own sticker always did travel slower paths
working through the quirks of keeping balance, sometimes
slipping through space, like a deflated
helium balloon, heck, better to get out of every one else’s way?

where stray days digest weeks and i
am always amazed by the obstacles
keeping them to myself
they’re my own self damning stones
that slows you down...

nuzzled against my body, are the soft small things
that yawn into the day’s end
transforming into winged silhouettes
that somehow you never really forget
finding a different person the next morning…
out of respect...

so, i press the off button of that alarm
repeating, “ok, ok, but i won’t promise not to lock
the doors of my mind!!”even if it means
another jolt off some infatuated cliff”, while sleepily
stumbling into the dorm

A maze of hazy dreams after too many cheese fries?
This is a great read Lee J.  That last verse had me giggling.
A real gem!  Enjoyed.

Lee, I loved this tumbling write!
There are so many images to ponder, I'll be back again later to re-read.
