"Wake up, lay down"
"wake up ,lay down"
we played a game
and you were half a moon
in 6months size,
little boy laughing
i dreamt you last night
into the hazy hours,
as the sun turns the corner,
then i woke in tears;

a mother feels love,
but we've all grown older,

"wake up, lay down"
i kiss you goodnight
for the umpteenth time,
then woke in a face
of a middle aged moment,
and called my own mother,
grateful, for shared reflections
at the sands of our shadows.

You capture moments in time so vividly in your poetry, that I get flashbacks of them from time to time. You are a poetess extraordinaire!

Through the raising of my own daughters, I have come to appreciate my Mom even more!

A lovely poem, Ms. Goddess....

Calling your mother was a very good idea, because she is the one who was filled with emotion when you first walked out the door;

This poem is filled with that same kind of emotion.

Malvina Reynolds wrote and sang that emotion in her beautiful song "Turn Around". Perhaps you know the song?

(excerpt)
"Where are you going,
my little one, little one?
Where are you going, my baby, my own?
Turn around and you're two.
Turn around and you're four.
Turn around and you're a young girl
going out of the door."

(use girl or boy, whatever fits)

Your poem reminded me of this song....

Thank you

This one moved me so deeply, dear Michele!

It brought memories and emotions.

Moments in the circle of life, captured so beautifully.

Love and hugs.
