Not enough

That little rain we had today
was not enough to wash away
the guilt and shame and sorrow

The mark still shows
from head to toes
we'll try again tomorrow

Apologies are mearly words
which fly away like startled birds
but still I had to speak them

We move along 'neath clouded skies
with teardrops building in our eyes
because again I failed you

You cleaned up the mess I made
but still I find myself afraid
I thanked you not enough

Ralph..that was a lovely apology.
I hope she/he sees it and accepts.
Good stuff!

aw Ralph...

come visit me and you'll get that in the flesh yanno.

and? It's really nice to be able to type that to a fellow poet here at Pip.

I think this is wonderful and you are growing as sweetly as your roses.

I came back to add I am so proud of you.

I just read this aloud to Krista and I confess my voice wavered as tears filled my eyes.

This is sweet sincerity my friend.

I am just so tickled.

This is absolutely beautiful, adagio...

and?... agreeing with Karen...
your sincerity flows freely through your words.

Thank you for sharing this...

Thank you Karen for the kind words, and before you ask yes Leah has already forgiven me. And by the way she said she thoroghly enjoyed her stimulating conversation with your rather brilliant daughter last week or whenever that was.
Thanks to all the rest of you for reading.
I really appreciate the feedback.

I don't know what you did Ralph, but if you do it again, you'll answer to ME too.

But if Leah forgives you, so do I.

Now give us a visit, will ya?

(and you are than welcome, as those "kind words" were well deserved)
