There is a stillness on the lawn
That only comes with day’s begone,
Like cooing of the mourning dove,
Falls soft the night from skies above
Ensconsing earth in soothing balm
of vespertine, of evening’s calm.
Across land’s scape dark shadow’s lengthen,
In warm glow of Luna’s strengthen,
As man and beast come face to face
With splendor of night’s welkin grace.
No mortal words exist I fear,
No explanations one to hear,
To describe of heaven’s vault,
Jeweled firmament of night’s exalt.

Awesome job.  That was one of my favorite poems I've ever read.  Great word selection too.

I often find myself lost for words at this time of day, and just stand there and absorb it all for the sheer beauty of it.  You spoke it well Tim.

That only comes with day’s begone,

No mortal words exist I fear,
No explanations one to hear,
To describe of heaven’s vault,

Likewise, there are no words to tell you so,
the quiet calm that rests within your poem.

hun, ya know, no words need be known, simply put...just that you know, is enough and proof of itself...

big thank you smiles for this
