In Tribute to Passing Shadows

What would life be like
Without those we cherish?
What would life be like
If we forgot our loved ones?
What would life be like,
If we never said good bye?

We cannot answer
Any of these questions.

Why?

Because there is no such thing
As a true good bye,
For we never can forget
Those we love,
Those we cherish.
They remain in our hearts forever,
They never really perish.

We forget sometimes
That rooms in our hearts exist,
Holding those for whom we care
Because we lose ourselves
In profound grief,
In a hole of despair
That was never truly there.

We must not let ourselves
Sink and forget,
Who we are
Who we cherish and love,
For down that road lies disaster,
A path of no return.

Do not forget,
Do not let your heart lie forever in grief,
Know that a room in my heart
Is reserved for you,
Take it easy, take life slow,
Keep your mind and heart open,
For who knows?

So with this final stanza
I will say to you…
Good bye.

Dixie, What did I tell you? YOU ARE LOVED!
You can not leave open hearts  You can wander in and out but the essence of you will always be there, in the hearts of your fellow PIP poets. marty

Kristabell, you made it "kristal" clear that Darlin' Dixie will be missed!

Your tribute was quite touching and will hopefully cause Dixie to reconsider leaving us!

Warm hugs to each of you!

Passing Shadows is the firs person I met here, and though my participation in this community runs in waves...Passing Shadows...is one of the few people I recognize every time I'm here.

This is a lovely poem, and I hope it makes it's dent.

She will come home when she is ready....
Sometimes life gets in the way and we need to take care of things first.
