In a quiet evaluation
Of the life I've lived, today.
I pondered many choices-
Many partings of the way.

As I looked back on the pathways
That I've chosen in my life.
I don't wonder that they've cost me
Friends and children, home, and wife.

When in my teens and twenties
I was always on the go...
To chase the golden promise,
That I saw in rodeo.

In my early thirties,
That race was nearly run-
I never was a champion-
But I did have lots of fun.

Next I turned to making money
But I did not have the knack.
And a string of failing ventures-
Made me stop and face the fact.

Middle age then turned me crazy
Made me hunger for romance.
But when I finally held the fiddle
Seemed that no one wants to dance.

So I drew my stock and rode it,
Made mistakes and faced the tune;
In the twilight years I'm facing-
I await the rising moon.

And the lonely man within it-
And I will then converse,
My life has been a good one,
It could have been a whole lot worse.

I love this! Just to be able to look back and accept the chips where they fall, rather than fussing over a lot of shoulda's.  (taking this to the library to read before evaluating my lifetime again!)

              thanks,

Ah...how we can all look back and see how our choices have made us who we are....You reflect so much in words that make the picture clear....Life goes on and with each raising of the sun bringing new experiences and new choices...you put it perfectly...Magnificent...*big hugs*

Hi cowboy...good to read you once again.
You know..we make choices throughout our lives,
perhaps not always the right one,
but when we look back..
I don't think I would have changed a thing..
and I have a feeling you wouldn't either.
~Hugs to you, Nancy~

Yeeeaahhh!! I too remember the choices I made at that age. And, yes, I too hung out with the "cowboy/girl" crowd. Watch our friends ride in the rodeo. And the PRCA rodeo dances......wow!!! Loved going. Got into lots of trouble. Wranglers, Coors and Copenhagen. Aww, the memories. lol

I'll dance with ya cowboy of my heart!!
Much enjoyed. Chris
