Hangdog

Like a dog astray
after the rain washes away
credible evidence
of her soft gardenia presence
I collected my blurred
and rusted poetry for her
and ambled my sorry self
back home, back up on the shelf
return to my idiotic loneliness
return of my robotic sadness
I'm so astoundingly sorry, baby
I'm so abundantly scarred, lady
so if you call me back tonight
consider it my right to attack the light
inside you, the shine of you
that has killed me over and over but thrilled me too
I'm so angry at you I could cry
my heart beating so fast I could die
but while we're on the subject
my I freely admit
this shocking little tidbit tonight
I thought it might belittle you just right
see, this is what I'm saying to you:
take this knife out of my back, I never said I'd die for you
I'll take this offensive and sweet
message on my machine and put it on repeat
listen close and hear
the tremor in your voice, not so innocent and clear
is it now? Is it now?
And tell me how you're sorry now

This was a nice read; good writing! I thought the imagery was good too.
